A homepage has one primary job: help the right visitor understand the business and take the next sensible step.
The first screen
State the service, the location or service area, and the main action. Use a real heading, not text baked into an image. Make the phone action tappable on mobile.
- Clear business and service description
- Primary service area
- Call or request-service action
- No intrusive overlay blocking the basics
The middle of the page
Group services in language customers use. Add proof that belongs to the business: real work, licenses when relevant, team details, and verifiable reviews. Explain what happens after contact.
The technical basics
Check responsive layout, readable type, alt text for meaningful images, keyboard access, secure HTTPS, and working forms. Measure performance with field data when available and lab tools when it is not.
The final pass
Read every statement for accuracy. Test every link and form from a phone. Ask someone unfamiliar with the business to explain what it does after ten seconds. If they cannot, simplify.
