A project gallery should do more than prove that work happened. It should help a prospective customer recognize a relevant service, understand the result, and find the next step.
Choose examples customers can compare
Group photos by service, project type, or problem solved instead of one long stream. Show a representative range and remove near-duplicates. Label before-and-after order clearly.
Add context without unsupported claims
A caption can identify service, general location, material, constraint, or visible change. Do not invent performance, values, timelines, or customer reactions. Obtain permission before publishing property, identifying details, or testimonials.
Make images understandable
Use sharp images near supporting text. Google recommends descriptive filenames and alt text; W3C explains that alternative text should communicate purpose in context. Decorative images need different treatment than project evidence.
Protect mobile performance
Resize and compress for displayed dimensions, use modern formats when appropriate, and avoid loading a full archive immediately. Test taps, captions, orientation, and loading on a phone.
Connect proof to action
Link gallery groups to relevant service pages and put a clear request path nearby. Visitors should not have to return home to understand whether the business offers that work.
